The MARUPA Gold Project is located in the Creporizao basin of the Tapajos mineral province, in the state of Para, north-central Brazil, with year-round access via gravel roads and river. Some of the biggest gold mining projects in Brazil (Tocantizinho of GMINING and Palito & Sao Chico mines of Serabi Gold) are located in the same district.
Astra Gold was granted three exploration licenses for the MARUPA Gold Project by the National Mining Agency on 12.03.2024. The properties benefit from year-round logistics, with the nearby city of Itaituba providing access to a skilled workforce, as well as local engineering and construction capabilities — all of which contribute to lower development costs and reduced execution risk.
The project area lies within a structurally complex and mineralized corridor dominated by syn- to late-tectonic metagranitoids and migmatized gneisses of the Cuiú-Cuiú Metamorphic Suite — a lithological package strongly associated with both primary and secondary gold mineralization. CPRM mapping confirms the presence of multiple shear zones and gold occurrences throughout the district, including historical production from within Astra’s tenements.
– Located directly over primary gold-bearing structures, with CPRM mapping indicating high prospectivity zones crossing the license areas.
– Regionally surrounded by dense gold occurrence points (green dots), confirming the intense artisanal mining history and widespread gold anomalies.
– Hosted within the same structural and lithological units as deposits like Cuiú-Cuiú and Palito, with extensive zones of hydrothermal alteration and
shear-hosted veins.
– Area includes the site of recorded historic production of 800 kg of gold from a single pit, with grades 2g/t – 3g/t in pit, 30g/t in veins, up to 200g/t in secondary and with the primary deposit intact.
The Tapajós Project is Astra Gold’s most geologically de-risked asset, offering immediate drill potential and the opportunity to define a maiden resource based on known mineralization, intact hard-rock outcrops, and proximity to regional-scale gold systems.
